TAKE ACTION, meeting weekly in NYC, is a creative gym in which working filmmakers and actors meet weekly to expand their on-camera scene-study skill set, try out new material, and explore ways to collaborate more effectively - all in a nurturing, fertile environment.

Every member works each session and doesn't need to be present the entire session - though you're invited to watch all work and participate in all discussions. Each scene takes
approximately 90 minutes to rehearse and shoot/record.

“You could make no better decision than to have Jon Shear as your teacher. I'm struck by what a rare opportunity it is to have a coach with such a rich and varied perspective on the filmmaking process. I did some of my best work as an actor while working with Jon.”

DAN FUTTERMAN
Oscar-nominated screenwriter of CAPOTE and FOXCATCHER, star of URBANIA, SAG Best Ensemble Award for THE BIRDCAGE

"NYC-based film directors, check out the TAKE ACTION workshop run by the wonderful Jon Shear. You get to do scene work with amazing actors each week. It's really changed my life."

GABRIELLE DEMEESTERE

Writer-director of YOSEMITE, starring James Franco

"Jon Shear brings a rare combination of instinct, insight, and experience to his role of coach to writers. No one knows better how to break down a script and predict what directors and producers really want - and what actors really need. Most importantly, Jon will bring out your best."

MICHAEL GOLDENBERG
Screenwriter of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Contact
